This COO's 3-part strategy boosts productivity
Sudhanshu Gupta, COO, Paytm First Games, has always been an early riser, but in the pre-pandemic era, a considerable chunk of his morning was spent on commuting to work. So, ever since he started working from his Gurugram home, he’s found himself with extra time to focus on his hobbies. “WFH has saved me about three hours, and I spend this time on family, fitness and my hobbies,” he says. While technology companies were placed to make the switch to remote work, Gupta says it was equally important to ensure professional and domestic responsibilities don’t overlap. “It’s important to create a routine and stick to it. I divide my day into three parts: My day starts with a team meeting where everyone shares the key highlights of the previous day and tasks to be executed that day. Between 11 am and 1 pm, we focus on high-priority business. The second half of the day is for meetings involving long-term topics,” he adds.Quicker meetingsIn the pre-pandemic times, these brainstorming sessions would keep the team in the conference room for hours, Gupta says. “WFH has increased productivity, as meetings are more structured, objective-oriented and shorter,” he says. What he misses in these times, however, is the social interaction. “The softer aspects of team culture are harder to replicate online, as also being able to build a rapport with colleagues,” Gupta says.Fitness firstGupta has set aside time slots to focus on family and fitness: Before 9.30 am, between 1 and 2 pm, and post-8 pm. “I start my day at 6 am by walking my pup, Shadow. I then do some light running and light exercises. I use my fitness tracker extensively and have set myself a target of 15,000 steps a day,” Gupta adds. With this extant work arrangement set to be extended till the pandemic abates, Gupta suggests investing in some quality office accessories to enhance the experience. “Get a proper chair, table and laptop stand for maintaining a healthy posture during long working hours. Walk around the house frequently. Get a monitor to add to your laptop if possible. It helps,” he suggests.76642566
