Rhea's custody ends today; AIIMS team to meet CBI

NEW DELHI: The judicial custody of deceased actor's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, who was remanded for 14-days in the Byculla jail in relation to the drug angle in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case, ends today. The model-actress is expected to be produced in court, virtually. After three days of questioning by the Narcotics Control Bureau, she was arrested on Sept 8. She can face up to 10 years in prison if found guilty in the late actor's drug abuse case.The NCB had also arrested Rhea's brother Showik, Sushant's personal staff Dipesh Sawant and several others for allegedly procuring and transporting drugs.The drug law enforcement agency will move a Special Court to seek a day's custody for Showik Chakraborty and Dipesh Sawant, to connect the dots with some new facts that have emerged in the case.Rajput's talent manager Jaya Saha, who was questioned yesterday for five hours, has been asked to appear before the NCB for the second day. Rhea, her brother, and former manager Shruti Modi are also expected to appear before the NCB, according to Times Now.The NCB is also likely to summon Bollywood A-listers like actresses Sara Ali Khan and Shraddha Kapoor later this week. Sara starred with Rajput in 'Kedarnath' while Kapoor shared the screen with the late actor in 'Chichhore'.Karishma Prakash, actress Deepika Padukone's manager and an employee of KWAN - a celebrity management company - will also be called in for questioning by NCB. Padukone may also be summoned by the agency if required post-Prakash's questioning, said an NCB source to ET Bureau. Modi and Prakash have worked with KWAN under Shah, who is heading celebrity management at the company.Times Now also reported that KWAN CEO Dhruv Chitgopekar, who was summoned by the NCB, is expected to appear before the agency. Shah, Modi, Karishma and Chitgopekar will be confronted with digital evidence. Film-maker Madhu Mantena Verma will be quizzed on Wednesday. The NCB will also summon actor Rakul Preet Singh and fashion designer Simone Kambhatta next week.Meanwhile, the All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) forensic team, that has been examining Sushant Singh Rajput's cause of death, is scheduled to meet the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials today at the headquarters in Delhi.The medical team will submit its findings to the central agency. Following the meeting, the AIIMS team will share a conclusive report later this week. For the first time, the team has used sophisticated equipment to analyse the samples that were initially collected. 78054484
