| Re sees worst weekly fall in 3
months |
Maharashtra : The rupee
posted its biggest single-day gain in a month-and-a-half on
Friday, snapping a three-session falling streak as good dollar
sales by banks and two large corporates helped offset
greenback demand seen from oil importers. However, for the
week, the rupee fell 0.5% against the dollar, posting its
worst performance since the week ended January 24, with
trading influenced by falls in regional currencies on a weekly
basis, amid worries over tensions in Ukraine and a slide in
the Chinese yuan.

disappoint; inflation fears weigh |

government bonds fell on Friday after cut-off prices came in

the day, fully selling the allocation, but at yields that were
higher than expected. The auction results sparked some
profit-taking after last week’s rally, with the 10-year
benchmark yield ending up 3 basis points for the week,
snapping two weeks of falls.

| Essar Energy panel asks minority
shareholders to reject delisting bid |
Karnataka : A bid for London-listed
Essar Energy by its majority shareholder materially
undervalues the company and should be rejected, an independent
committee set up to examine the offer reiterated on Friday. The
committee, appointed by the company in February, also said
proposed changes to UK listing rules could make it more
difficult to delist the company.Essar Global Fund, which owns
about 77% of the India-focused resources company, had last
month offered 70 pence per share for the stake it does not
already own. Essar Global declined to comment on the circular
